NO5
Rattray Motor Spares has been trading in the South West Glasgow area since 1958.
In this series of stories we relates some of the true and humourous
events that have occurred over the years.
Can't see the forest for the trees". "None are so blind than those who do not wish to see". These are phrases we regularly see demonstrated at our trade counter. A customer returned a newly supplied brake cable. "It's been assembled the wrong way round." he claimed. Believe it or not, he was holding his old cable, vertically, between the fingers of one hand and the new cable between the fingers of his other hand. "See, the clevis at the one end and the ball at the opposite end are the wrong way round." He was holding the new cable upside down, with the outer casing having slipped to the opposite end from that which the old outer cable had jammed at. With a quick flick of the wrist, I turned the new cable around, and Hey Presto, they were now similar type cables.
